Efficient and judicious use of fertilizers in our country's agricult
ural fields is a matter of serious concern, not only from a farmer's point of view, but also our country as a whole due to ever increasing subsidies on fertilizers products. Soil testing forms a major component in this regard which determines the quantity of nutrients to be applied with a proper blend of organic in organic forms of fertilizers and having a balanced fertilization approach, which is the key focus in the 'Nutrient BasedSubsidy' (NBS) scheme. KRIBHCO has been playing a significant role towards this through analysing soil samples free of cost for macro and micro nutrients. Its 'Krishi Paramarsh Kendra' providing free agriculture, weather & market information to farmers is worth mentioning in this respect.
KRIBHCO has been consistently endeavouring for a better tomorrow and has once again displayed an excellent performance on all fronts with exemplary financial results during Financial Year 2009-10. Four million tons mark in fertiliser saleswas achieved with zero inventory levels in the field which is a historic event. DAP & MOP imports are being made for farming community to encourage balanced fertiliser use. A new product line of Hybrid seed has been introduced and co-marketing of city compost has been initiated to protect soil health. During the first quarter ending June' 10, total urea sales is up by around 9% over the same quarter ending June'09, and the weather reports for July & August are favourable which is likely to further improve the sales with increased sowing.
The Revamp of existing Ammonia and urea plant at Hazira would enhance the annual capacity from 10.03 LMT to 12.47 of Ammonia plant and 17.29 LMTto 21.94 LMT of urea plant, which is likely to be completed by Oct, 2011. In addition, the recommissioning of Hazira Jetty would be used for handling imported fertilisers and other clean cargo, which is likely to be operational by 2011-12 and generate additional revenue for the Society. KRIBHCO Infrastructure Ltd. (KRIL)has started hand ling conta inerized domestic cargo traffic of PTA, HR coils & plates, Lubricants and Liquid cargo through its fleet of 5 rakes & 250 containers of various types. KRILis also in the process of setting up of Rail Linked ICD / CFSat Modinagar, Rewari, Hindaun City and Shahjahanpur for providing complete door to door logistics solutions.
